Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Meritage Advisors website and services. By accessing our website or engaging our advisory services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. Please read them carefully before using our services.
Services Provided
Meritage Advisors provides strategic guidance and feedback for students applying to UK universities. Our services include strategic application planning, university and course selection guidance, personal statement strategy and draft review, and support throughout the application process. All of our services are designed to guide and advise rather than to replace the student's own work.
Services Not Provided
To maintain academic integrity, Meritage explicitly does NOT:
Write personal statements or any application materials on behalf of students, submit applications on behalf of students, write or substantially edit recommendation letters, provide visa or immigration advice, or guarantee admissions outcomes. These boundaries are fundamental to our practice and ensure that applications authentically represent the student.
Client Responsibilities
As a client, you agree to provide accurate information about the student and their academic background, to write all application materials yourself with our guidance, to submit applications directly to universities, to refrain from uploading prohibited documents such as passports, visas, financial records, or government-issued identification, and to comply with university application policies and academic integrity standards.
Intake Form Acknowledgement
Submitting an intake form creates a lead record only and does not initiate advising services. No client relationship exists until a service agreement has been signed by both parties. Any communications prior to signing a service agreement are informational in nature and do not constitute advisory services.
Service Agreement
Full advising services are provided under a separate Service Agreement that you will sign before your engagement begins. That agreement governs the specific terms of your advisory relationship with Meritage, including scope of work, timelines, and any applicable fees. These Terms of Service supplement but do not replace the Service Agreement.
Payment
Payment terms are specified in your Service Agreement or at the point of booking for standalone services such as feasibility consultations and personal statement reviews. We use Stripe for payment processing and do not store credit card information on our servers. All fees are quoted in US dollars unless otherwise stated.
Limitation of Liability
Meritage provides strategic guidance only. We do not guarantee admission to any university or programme. Admission decisions are made solely by universities, and outcomes depend on many factors beyond our control, including academic qualifications, competition, and university-specific criteria. Our role is to help you present the strongest possible application, but the final decision always rests with the admitting institution.
Termination
Either party may terminate the advisory relationship as specified in the Service Agreement. Termination procedures and any refund policies are outlined in that document. We reserve the right to terminate services immediately if we discover that a client has misrepresented information or has violated our ethical guidelines.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Material changes will be communicated to active clients. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
